Hi, my name is Tiffany and I have just learned how to blow dry my hair. Now, that might not seem like a big feat but to this 30 something it really is. In high school I would got to school with wet hair or just sleep with my hair wet (against all the wise words of my mother). In college it was hats or ponytails, and in my 20's it was an amazing pixie cut. Now finally in my 30's I've figured out to properly use the hair dryer.
Oh I've been shown many, many times. For the love my sister teaches cosmologist to become teachers and how to teach students! But bless her heart she just couldn't get her sister to figure it out. See there was this one little thing stopping me, anxiety. Okay more then anxiety, straight up fear. Yup, as crazy as it sounds I was scared. Scared I would try and look stupid while trying, or blow dry out my hair and it look worse then being in a ponytail. Or, worse yet, try, nail it, and then it would be expected of me to always have it together. Isn't it funny how a hair dryer could send someone into an emotional tailspin.
The funny thing about having anxiety about doing your hair is that it can seem so, well...stupid! I mean really with all that goes on in this world having anxiety (or fear) over what using a blow-dryer could mean is a little much. But what I love is no matter what, God wants to console us in our anxiety. He wants to bring us out of our fears and into joy!
When anxiety was great with in me, your consolation brought me joy. Psalm 94:19
Now I am not saying I'm cutting back flips every time I dry my hair. Messy buns and dry shampoo are still my bffs, but I don't think about how I feel drying my hair.
If it looks good enough, awesome!
If it looks crazy, there is always a hat!
If it looks good enough, awesome!
If it looks crazy, there is always a hat!
And if I accidentally catch a knot with my brush and smack myself in the face with said brush, then proceed to throw the hair dyer across the room when I jump, knocking everything off the counter that's okay too. Actually, its more then okay, its hysterical.
